| Quebec City - a summary |

Bus at 815. Arrive around 1030 or so.
Wandered around some fort ruins.
Looked inside the Chateau Frontenac...
Bought Subway and pickniced on the National Assembly grass.
Wandered about the Plains of Abraham.
Went on a short boat ride to take photos...just a ferry thing, but got some nice pics.
Wandered through some parts of old Quebec outside of the walls...took photos.
Visited Notre Dame outside the walls...not sure entirely what it was.
Visited the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Watched some street performers briefly.
Shopped, ended up with a summer dress and a new shirt for only 50$ total.
Made up for spending so little on clothes by buying a lot for dinner. At this point it was just Jane, Casey, and I. The others met up with us, and the 9 of us ate crepes. Had a savory crepe. Had a sweet crepe. Split a bottle of wine with Casey.
Everyone parted. Casey and I wandered down to where some random music was playing. 4 guys with bongos/djembes/some sort of hand drums on a stage. There was also a beer garden. Bought a beer, watched the music for a while.
Wandered around the city walls.
Found the others at a pub, thought about getting a drink but instead went to take pictures of the National assembly at night. Fountains looked awesome.
Boarded bus at 9.
Back by 1030.

I was so upset when I literally lost one of every single pair of these suckers that I owned. I had one hider, one black one, and one green one. Guh.
School is getting hard. Only 3 more semesters left till I move to the next stage of it.
This semester:
French 105
Poli 319 - Obama Versus McCain - Essentially the election and how it will effect Canada.
Poli 300a - Ancient and Medievil political thought - Who the hell takes this course when it is not required? I'm learning lots, but I have a paper due Friday, and I honestly have no idea what to say. The topics are obscure and strange. Shit.
IB 301 - International Business - easy.
HA 295 - Film studies (I tried to take this course the last 3 years in a row but it never fit. Finally).
My newspaper was absent again today. This is the third time since I started the new subscription 2 weeks ago. The first two days it didn't show up, then I gave REALLY detailed delivery instructions to the globe and mail people, and everythign was peachy. Now it's gone again. Crap.
This is a really good way to procrastinate from doing readings. |

It's a point and shoot, but its cool cause its freeze proof, waterproof to 33 feet, and a whole bunch of other crazy things.
Soon I will buy more lenses, and a flash.
Plus I just installed CS3, so that opens up the world of HDR photography for me (EXCITING!).
It also means I may have to buy a lighter tri-pod, as the one I pilfered from my father is quite heavy, and I want one I can take places when I'm in Europe (WAY to hard to try and shoot HDR without one...).

I have a pretty large poli 323 (Issues in Politics: Politics of Health) midterm tomorrow. I am in over my head.
It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't disagree with a large portion of what these theorists are say, but unfortunately I do.
Iatrogenesis: injury inflicted by the medical establishment, that would have never come about without the patient seeking medical help. A big thing for this guy Ivan Illich. His basic theories: doctors don't know anything, the medical industry is basically a way to control citizens, it holds power over them, and remeoves their organic capacities to cope. Medicine has accomplished next to nothing - any decreases in disease are due to things like hygiene, better nutrition, etc.
I can't take any more of it. Honest to God, I want to know what happened to this man that makes him think like this. What kind of terrible childhood incident involving a hospital...I mean wow. This is EXTREME.
And I don't even know what kind of extreme it is. it seems completely different than any way of thinking these days, but it isn't a new way of thinking. This is essentially the view held of pysicians and the medical establishment from the 1400s (or earlier) to the 19th century. I mean, ok...back then we were letting blood and discussing humors, but I feel like we've come a long way, that cures do work, etc. I have faith in the medical system. I have faith in medicine. I wanted to be a doctor up until the time I was 14. Then I found journalism. then I became jaded, now I'm working my way back to medicine. First through medical law, then through wanting to work for the ministry of health. I wish I wasn't so put off by gross things and 12 hour night shifts... I really want to be a doctor, I just don't think I have the stomach for it.
Eh. I've got another year before I have to start applying to grad/law school. Maybe if I can toughen up I can make some sort of attempt at this...
Marlow is cooking pie and potato pancakes. Strange combo, I know, but I'm hungry as hell and they both sound delicious right about now. |

And my frog has found his way behind the background sheet in his terrarium and is sleeping there now even though Its probably not good for him.

Maybe I should drop out of school and become a wedding planner.
I already compulsively plan EVERYTHING...may as well make a living out of it.
Plus I have a high tolerance for crazy bitches yelling at me. Bloody bridezillas.
Actually scratch that. I don't know what I was thinking.
There should be some rule against drumming immediately after drinking of eating. Like that "dont swim until half hour after eating." I drank too much water at practice today and then drummed a massively flailing heavy song and felt ill. Sigh.
I also bought a 27 gallon tank off of usedvic. and then dropped 30 bucks on fish. My savings account HATES me right now. Whatever, better spend the 80 bucks on a used tank/filter/etc. now than the 250 or so later on. Besides, I can't buy more fish for a while now, I want to make sure these all survive first. 4 albino tetras. 3 golden bars. This is in addition to the plecko and three more neons that were already in their from the old tank. Probably not supposed to add so many at once (7). Oh well. Hopefully it's ok.
On that note, there are some scary looking fish out there. I want a ghost knife - he is not particularily scary, just really really cool. Too bad my tank is not nearly big enough.

I had him for approximately 2 years.
Sad - I had noticed he seemed to have a spot on him, but I didn't have time to look into it before I left for the weekend. Sigh. I wish I had. Poor frog. |

I want to go to Europe.
I don't think I want to go to Sweden anymore.
It's just more money for traveling after I graduate I suppose. I can get away with being there for several months now....
I've been studying since 10. It's 2:30.
Yesterday was 11:40-4 pm.
Damn history of medicine. My prof is ridiculous...who actually makes you memorize this much shit anymore?
At least I was given my other two exams in advance.
Still have that poli sci paper to start...
damn.
Less than 20 days till Christmas now. I'm uncharictaristically unexcited. I honestly think it's the fact that I have only bought two gifts so far. Hanging around the mall with all the decorations and such seems to be what really gets me in the mood...it also may be because there are NO decorations around UVic, and the mall is the only place I can really see them. Isn't that terrible?

Tylers post reminded me of how little class there is left in this semester.
Which scares the HELL out of me because I still have a ton to do.
1. Shoot final project for photojournalism
2. 8 page single spaced cabinet submission
3. 500 word review
4. 800 Word essay
5. 10 Page-ish double spaced research essay on "the impact of globalization on the interactions between religion and politics" (why the hell did I make up such a complicated topic!?!)
I really should be more freaked out by this. I'm not.
I suppose I should work on my cabinet submission. Whoo-hoo horrible state of neo-natal care. :S |

I am so tired.
I'm honestly just trying to stay awake so I actually go to my 230 class.
Went to grindhouse last night. Skipped out at about 145 because I checked my clock and realized it was WAY later than I thought and that I had to be up in just over 6 hours.
And then for some reason I decided to go to Marlows house.
And obviously ended up staying up later.
And now I'm really tired.
I'm also pretty bummed out because I thought I was going to get to spend tonight with him, but he decided to leave for Hornby earlier than he had thought. I feel like we haven't really hung out in a forever. I mean, we spend nights togehter, but sleeping time isn't exactly "quality." The weekend before last we were both really busy and didn't spend much time together, and last weekend he spent his days renovating his bathroom, and we were both busy doing our own things at night. In any event, I was really looking forward to tonight, but oh well. Next weekend.
I haven't decided what I want to do tonight yet. I'm trying to get Chris to watch hockey and have beer with me, as I haven't seen him in a while either and I miss him. However, I do kind of just want to sit at home and watch chick flicks all night. I suppose I could technically do both. Hmm. |

Everyone at the thought my hair was real.
Lots of awesome costumes, I wish I had pics, but I forgot my point and shoot at Marlows, and I don't trust my drunk self with the SLR.
At some point in the night, I lost my cell phone. What I really mean is that it is probably here in my house somewhere, I just have no idea where. Also I am getting sick...and I still have part of an essay to write. Shit.
I don't want to live here anymore. Britt is moving out at the end of the semester. Brianne might move out too. I can't deal with the other one. She drives me up the fucking wall. The unfortunate thing is I think that I have credit with housing, so I may actually be stuck here. No way in hell I'm sacrificing 500$.
Marlow has now resorted to hippie witchcraft to find my phone. If somehow this works, I am going to have to reconsider my entire system of beliefs. Well...not really |

I've been scanning used victoria for parts for my digital SLR. Luckily, Pentax decided NOT to fuck over it's customers when it switched to dig slr, and so most SLR lenses are compatible with new cameras. In any event, I may buy this whole set.

Hopefully at least the telephoto is autofocus compatible. None the less, awesome deal. I need a new lens anyway, something with more f stops (on the lower end range, anyway) so I can take better indoor photos. This would be AWESOME.
Also, as I have said over and over, I'm going to star collecting cameras. So, for my own reference more than anything, here are some I need to remember to keep any eye on.
